Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using TalkOnPaper ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

Description of Service

TalkOnPaper is a platform that enables researchers to:

• Share video presentations of their published academic work
• Access English-dubbed versions of academic talks
• Browse a searchable archive of research presentations
• Submit papers for professional dubbing services (Premium tier)

User Accounts

Registration

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Be responsible for all activities under your account

Subscription Tiers

We offer three subscription levels:

• Public: Free access to publicly available talks
• Registered: Free account with access to registered-tier content
• Academic Premium: Paid tier with full access and dubbing services

Content Submission

Eligibility

To submit content, you must:

• Be the author or have permission from the author
• Have a published paper with a valid DOI or URL
• Own or have rights to the video content submitted

Content Guidelines

All submitted content must:

• Be original academic work or properly attributed
• Reference a verified published paper
• Not contain plagiarized, fraudulent, or misleading information
• Comply with copyright and intellectual property laws
• Not include hate speech, harassment, or illegal content

License Grant

By submitting content, you grant TalkOnPaper a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

• Host, display, and distribute your content
• Create dubbed versions in English or other languages
• Include your content in search results and archives

You retain ownership of your original content.

Intellectual Property

The Platform's design, code, trademarks, and features are owned by TalkOnPaper and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute our code or design
• Use our trademarks without permission
• Scrape or harvest content programmatically without authorization

Premium Services

Premium dubbing services are subject to additional terms:

• Fees are charged per submission and are non-refundable
• Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees
• We reserve the right to reject submissions that don't meet quality standards
• Human review and regional accent options may incur additional fees

Prohibited Activities

You may not:

• Use the Platform for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Upload viruses, malware, or malicious code
• Harass, impersonate, or defraud other users
• Circumvent access controls or subscription requirements
• Scrape content in violation of our robots.txt

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Submit fraudulent or misleading content
• Engage in abusive behavior
• Fail to pay for Premium services

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Accuracy of dubbed translations
• Availability of specific content
• Compatibility with all devices

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TALKONPAPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Kornwestheim, Germany.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification.
